The Echinacea Purple Coneflower, ‘Echinacea purpurea’, is a long lived tough perennial that withstands drought, wind and humidity and it is used for its suspected medicinal value. The Purple Coneflower has 2 to 3 inch long drooping petals that are surrounded with a purple/maroon/brown conical center, 3 inches in diameter. Plant in early spring, 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost or as late as 2 months before the first fall frost. They make excellent cut flowers and borders.
